A Brief History of Cameron Spacetime
I like building.
I didn’t realize it for a most of my life, but I’ve learned a lot about myself during the past few years.
Through the weirdness of the world we share I figured out that dragging something out of nothing is where I have the most fun.
I’ve done some cool things before (chronologically):
Published my honors thesis in a photonics journal
Taught leadership at the U.S. Army’s Officer Candidate School
Cofounded an ecommerce software startup that sold for $240M (DM for details)
Quit that startup post-acquisition and forfeited most of my earnout (lol)
Wrote some angel checks and advised some startups
Then I Aped into Crypto to find a problem interesting enough build a company around (more on that in a second)
I also talk sometimes too
After a few months of Crypto exploding my head, I started to excited.
Everything is broken. Nothing works. Systems are invented then destroyed. Creators tell new stories with untested tools. Ideas and creation myths perpetually spill forth, are embraced, and then cast aside as they are scrutinized by the harsh gaze of eldritch horrors masquerading as market actors. Memes and chaos reign supreme.
But the craziest part?
All of the current users in Web3 are early adopters.
And if we’re being strict about it, they’re really just the earliest of the early adopters.
So here I sit (a builder), staring at an ecosystem where the memes are dank, the user base is unbelievably nascent, and more unmet needs are discovered every day.
Of course this is only interesting if the tech is onto something, but by golly we’re still so early and this is how we used to think about computers so I am pretty sure we’re going to figure it out, gang.
Decentralized Finance let’s us move capital faster and more precisely than we’ve ever been able to do before.
This change makes the world so fundamentally different that I believe we can now build an entirely new type of payments network.
A zero fee payments network.
And I think it starts with NFT’s.
Enter VF Protocol.
It’s the first step towards making transaction fees extinct.
I’ll be following this post with more details about the vision in the coming weeks.
For now, know that I’m building VF Protocol in public.
I’m doxxed. The vision is soon to be doxxed. When it becomes a thing, the inner governance machinations will be doxxed as well.
A new ecosystem demands new ways of building and I plan on pushing those boundaries as far as I can.
The github, progress updates, and opportunities to participate are soon to follow.
I am working to build something great and useful which won’t happen alone.
